My No-Trump Vote: I’m Not Leaving

| by Katie Morris |

I realized something yesterday after hearing Trump, Jr.’s comments about women getting out of the workforce. Those statements reminded me of all the backlash against Colin Kaepernick for taking a knee. Basically these people are telling us to just get out of the place that offends us. Don’t like police brutality in America, then leave. Don’t like harassment in the workforce, then leave. But if you’re a privileged white man, you can build an entire campaign on hating this country because of people like me and Colin Kaepernick. Well, here’s the thing – WE AREN’T LEAVING. The solution to injustice is to stand and fight. We will not back down. In fact, WE ARE RISING. You WILL hear our roar. This is our time.

My No-Trump Vote is dedicated to all the women who came before me who fought like hell to take up space in a society that demanded silence and invisibility. I may not know all of their names, but their spirits flow through me. We will all be there in the ballot box together.

“If you can’t handle some of the basic stuff that’s become a problem in the workforce today, then you don’t belong in the workforce.” Donald Trump, Jr.

“[My sister] is a strong, powerful woman, she wouldn’t allow herself to be [subjected] to [workplace sexual harassment].” Eric Trump
